Dai-nichi, the Great Sun Buddha, is revered as a symbol of wisdom and enlightenment. Her power to illuminate all things is believed to bring salvation to people in the darkness. She embodies the value of simplicity and humility, inspiring people to focus on their inner qualities rather than material possessions. Dai-nichi’s teachings are universal and accessible to all who seek inner peace and understanding.
She wears simple clothing like other Buddhas but has a luxurious crown. She also wears ornaments. She makes a unique gesture called “Chi-ken-in” with her hands. She is always depicted seated and there is no standing statue of her.
