The sword and the book he holds represent intellectual pursuits and the importance of using wisdom to attain enlightenment.

He sits on a lion with crossed legs. He carries a sword and a scroll, representing wisdom. His expression is youthful and intelligent. He is often depicted with Shaka at the center, with Fugen on either side. It’s called “Shaka Triad“.
